Are (respectively) the Director and the Curator of History/Archivist of the Pioneers Museum in Colorado Springs, recognized as one of the finest local/regional history museums and archives in the United States. 

Is the Records Manager for the City of Colorado Springs. Previously, she served as an archivist and assistant at the Western Museum of Mining and Industry. 

Is the Education Assistant at the Golden History Center in Golden, Colorado.

Wrote in to report: "I'm really happy to report that I successfully defended my dissertation at the University of New Hampshire just last Friday. It's a work of Colorado history, and a good part of my "Acknowledgements" will highlight my appreciation to you, Chris, and Harlow, and the UCCS graduate program overall, a true gem that I was very fortunate to become connected with way back in 2002, through completion of the Master's in 2005.  My time to PhD was a bit lengthy, 2008-17, as I foolishly did all the coursework, prep for orals, and the dissertation while working as Dartmouth's budget director (2007-13) then Amherst College's CFO (2013-now).  Not sure I'd recommend this sort of path to anyone, but I am really happy I did it, and did it this way.  My plans from here include continuing to serve here at Amherst, turning the dissertation into a book, and getting back into the classroom to teach from time-to-time."

Has just completed her Ph.D. in Italian History at Oxford University, where she prepared a dissertation entitled "Returned to the Ghetto: Jewish Encounters with Italian Catholics, 1815-1848." Congratulations to Myrna! 

A double major with History and Anthropology who graduated spring 2016 and wrote one of the outstanding senior theses in Roy Jo Sartin's section, on the effects of mythology on Brian Boru's conquest of the High Kingship of Ireland. He has been accepted to the graduate program in Medieval Studies at the National University of Ireland in Galway!

Outstanding Undergraduate Student Heading into UCCS, Carl knew that he wanted to be a history major, but he did not restrict himself to only studying history Over his undergraduate career, he has tried to blend history, geography, anthropology, and any other relevant fields to create an in-depth understanding of the human experience. Towards this end, Carl stayed an additional semester after finishing his history degree coursework to complete a certificate in GIS, a sub-field of geography focusing on technological application. The History Department faculty has been soundly impressed with Carl’s historical work and his dedication to help other history majors through tutoring. Carl intends to pursue graduate work in interdepartmental studies, particularly combining history and geography at Arizona State University, where he will pursue an MA in Geography, and then an MA in History, starting in the Fall of 2018.

Originally from Los Angeles, Stefan Huddleston arrived in Colorado Springs in 1997. As a nontraditional student, he returned to college to pursue his love for history, first as PPCC then at UCCS. He graduates as a History major and Film studies minor with 4.0 GPA. Through his studies, he has combined his interest in history-film-making, digital media, popular culture, and geography. His senior thesis centers on local film, advertising, and aviation entrepreneur, J. Don Alexander (Alexander Films and Alexander Aviation). Stefan used archival primary sources, interviewed people visited the former building, and gleaned insights into this remarkable but little known Colorado Springs film industry pioneer. In short, Stefan is producing not just a capstone project, but he is also contributing original work to local, state and film industry history. He will begin the MA History Program in the fall and hopes to make historical documentaries and teach.

As a native to Colorado, Sydney began her college career with Front Range Community College in 2013. After 2 years, she transferred o UCCS where she pursued a BA in History, Special Education, and minor in American Sign Language. During her college career, Sydney worked at the Language and Social Science Center on campus, where she tutored American Sign Language. She will graduate Summa Cum Laude with a 3.93 GPA. Sydney’s senior thesis, titled “She-Murder She Wrote: The Asceticism of St. Catherine of Siena as Seen in Her Letters,” provides an innovative approach to a long-known subject: the life and works of St. Catherine of Siena. While numerous scholars have studied St. Catherine, Sydney found an innovative way to examine the well-known medieval mystic by examining the multiple religious and political meaning of her death. From the (fantastic) title to the conclusion, she demonstrates a wealth of knowledge on the topic by drawing upon the most up-to date secondary scholarship and numerous letter by Catherine and her confessor. Helping people learn and see things in a new way is something Sydney has always been passionate about. Following graduation, she plans to work with students with significant support needs at the elementary level to help them develop strong academic skills and to create a path for self-advocating that ill prepare them for the rest oft heir lives.

As an already accomplished musician and music scholar, Colin’s historical studies launched him into a new, exciting phase of his career focused on apocalyptic literature and history. His professors describe him as “on a whole other level” in terms of graduate student work. Colin has organized conference at UCCS, attended and presented his research at professional conferences, and written/co-edited two book length publications during these years. He is editing the Cambridge Companion to Apocalyptic Literature (Cambridge University Press) and producing and publishing the first English translation of the eighth century Cambridge Glossa in Apocalypsin (Brepols Press), both forthcoming in 2019. Colin wishes to express his deep appreciation to his History professors at UCCS: Brian Duvick, Roger Martinez, and Rob Sackett as well as to his invaluable mentor and colleague Frank Gumerlock.
