The History minor at UCCS provides a broad survey of world history, emphasizing the development of critical thinking, research, and communication skills.

Students can choose from specialized courses and apply their historical knowledge to complement other disciplines.

Completion of the History minor helps prepare students for a variety of careers and fosters an appreciation for diverse cultures and human experiences.

The focus of study for the History minor at UCCS is to provide students with a broad understanding of both Western and non-Western history, with an emphasis on cultivating critical thinking, research, and communication skills.

The program offers a comprehensive survey of historical events and themes, including cultural, social, economic, and political aspects of human history. Additionally, students can choose from specialized courses that explore topics such as gender, race, and ethnicity, providing a more in-depth understanding of historical perspectives.

Students must complete the following:

• 6 credit hours of coursework on the US and Europe from the following list: HIST 1010, 1020, 1030, 1040, 1050, 1510, 1520, 1530, 1540, 1550, 1560, 1563, 1575
• 6 credit hours of coursework on Asia, Africa, Latin America, and/or the Middle East from the following list: HIST 1120, 1130, 1135, 1140, 1150, 1300, 1340, 1370, 1400, 1410, 1600, 1610, 1900
• 9 additional credit hours of upper-division (3000+-level) HIST elective courses of their choice
